Dating back to the early 1900s, The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has been the catalyst for the real estate industry and the architect for the industry model now servicing broker/owners and agents.
In addition, NAR has been one of the most powerful lobbying forces in Washington D.C., advocating home ownership and a multiplicity of real estate initiatives too numerous to mention. The NAR lobby is largely responsible for the push for the American dream of home ownership.
NAR has set most of the policies for local Assocations, formerly “Boards of Realtors” and has been a staunch supporter of our Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
In the past couple of decades NAR has found itself at odds with the Department of Justice over trade issues that the DOJ felt were not in keeping with consumer-transparency, competitive practices and property information issues.
